Silverleaf Scorpionweed
BACK FOR 2026!
Phacelia hastata
Silverleaf Scorpionweed
Perennial
Soft fuzz covers the silvery green deeply veined and broadly lance-shaped leaves. Whew! That's a lot of words to say this plant has really cool leaves. They form a mounding rosette and the white fiddleneck flowers unfurl at about 12".
Pollinators adore all Phacelia's and this one likes open, rocky terrain and can tolerate partial shade. It grows from May to July.
This plant looks altogether soft and silvery. The leaves are really striking. When the flower buds are in their early stages, they look like round puffballs rising out the the leaves. The flowers are white with long protruding stamens.
Planting in fall or early winter is best so it can experience the fluctuating temperatures of spring, but a 2 month stratification will help with germination as well. This plant likes cool temps to germinate.
Plant the seed 1/8th of an inch deep and press the seeds in for good seed to soil contact.
