Perennial Sunflower
Long-lived perennial sunflower! These hardy and vigorous plants can grow to 8'!! As you can see, they need a long, warm season. The flowers do not make it in higher elevations and short seasons.
This is a great plant for the Front Range and the high desert. The plant makes multiple stems and the flowers bloom all up and down the stems - making for a gorgeous display. It has strappy leaves that curve downward. They readily seed themselves, I like to give them their own place to make a stand.
Drought tolerant, likes well drained, lean soil but it highly adaptable and will pretty much grow anywhere with a long enough season. Native to the Great Plains. Seed collected in New Mexico.
Hardy to Zone 3-9. This plant is loved by beneficial insects.
