One of my favorite greens for the mountains! Does best in cool weather, you can grow it in half shade. It will bolt in hot weather. It is extremely cold hardy and can even thaw out after freezing.
It has a delicious, nutty flavor and you can cut the whole rosette or harvest leaves because you just can't wait. Beautiful on the plate! Yummy in the pie-hole!
I always direct seed this in spring 1/4" deep. You can start them 4-6 weeks before planting though. Eat 'em all summer! Eat 'em in winter!
