Sweet Siberian Watermelon - Cirtullus lanatus - 85 days
A perfect choice for short seasons, this melon can reach 10 pounds. Good storage melon. Sweet, salmon colored flesh with a dark green, mottled skin.
Direct seed in warm soil in spring. You can cluster three seeds in mounds or spread them out and let them roam. Water as needed but do not over water. Mulch is crucial for steady moisture.
Needs three months to reach maturity. If you choose to start indoors it is very important to harden off the young plants for at least a week. Do not start too early!
