Hot Portugal Pepper - Capsicum annuum - 65-75 days
Bright red, 6" fruits on sturdy plants. Early pepper great for short seasons. Considered medium hot with a sweet, fruity flavor.
Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost. Plant seeds 1/8-1/4" deep. Set well hardened-off plants out in stable weather and warm soil. I set them at 2' centers. We shade our peppers at 8,120' to keep them from being scorched by the high-altitude sun.
Delicious and perfect for ristras.
