Astragalus drummondii

Drummon'd Milkvetch

Perennial

12-28" tall plants with soft, grey-green leaves and white flowers. This plant likes barren landscapes, rocky ledges, dry slopes, meadows and sage country.

Seeds need winter so plant in fall/early winter or refrigerate for 20-30 days before sowing.

Seeds have a very hard seed coat so nick the seed with a file or use sandpaper to help it along. Soak seeds for a couple of hours before planting. Sow seeds 1/8 - 1/4" deep in rocky, sandy or lean soil.

This plant is a legume and it fixes nitrogen to improve soil health.

Spring/early summer blooming.
