NEW FOR 2026!!
Oenothera pallida
Pale Evening Primrose
Perennial
Oh my - to see this en masse is pretty incredible. Fragrant white-fading-to-pink flowers open in the evening and fill the golden hour with a delicious scent. The nodding buds are pink and red in stripes atop reddish stems. 4 rounded or heart shaped white petals reveal a golden green base inside the flower. Flowers are large and showy.
The next day they fade to pink and droop, which also looks really cool.
The sprawling plants reach 12-18" tall and can cover themselves in blooms. They run by rhizomes making them perfect for a wildflower field, disturbed land or along the driveway where they can naturalize.
Likes sun, sand, Steppe regions, washes and roadsides.
Sow in fall to very early spring, needs some stratification. Sow on the surface as they need light to germinate. Press them in gently and keep moist through germination. You can stratify in the refrigerator for a month or two in a moist medium as well.
