This selection was discovered by a guy named John Baer - in a field of 'Bonny Best' in 1914. So - an heirloom. You can spot a John Baer out of a basket of tomatoes as it's incredible color stands out. Before turning an absolutely dark glossy red-red it has an almost coppery hue to it - just beautiful.
Thankfully the flavor is good too. Balanced flavor with a hint of sweetness. Plenty of juice in a 4-8 oz tomato.
Vigorous plants bear lots of blemish-free uniform fruits.
