(aka Ukrainian Purple) - 70 days - Ukraine - Indeterminate
What a cool tomato - and the color of the sauce will blow your mind. Prolific big and juicy and ready to eat fresh or rock and roll in the pot. I really like this tomato - this is what I wrote while eating it: Smokey and slightly sweet. Strong walled lovely purple pastes.
I will grow this again. Elongated 4-9 oz. purple plum tomatoes on wild and wispy vines. Heavy loads of a multi-purpose tomato makes this a great market tomato.
Amy Goldman wrote about Purple Russian in her book, The Heirloom Tomato From Garden To Table, "A tomato worth living for".
Original seed from Baker Creek.
