Beetberry or Strawberry Spinach - Chenopodium capitata - biennial

This is another amazing free food plant. Easy to grow, and reseeds easily, it will naturalize anywhere. Eat the first year rosette's leaves in spring and then wait for the second year to enjoy the raspberry-like fruits that grow along the stem in summer. Not as sweet as a raspberry but this plant gives. Allow it to reseed and you have another first-greens-in-spring thing going on. Birds love the seedy berries too.

Picture shows the first year rosette.
